The „Orange Days“ start on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and last until 10 December, Human Rights Day. During this period in particular, we are sending out visible signals against all forms of violence against women and girls. The colour orange symbolises a future without violence.
„In Germany...
- a femicide takes place almost every day;
- a man kills his (ex-)partner every two days;
- 63 % of politically active women experience digital violence;
- 90 % of young women feel strong to extreme fear when they meet unknown men at night.“ (Source: UN Women Germany)
We do not know how many women in Kaarst are or were specifically affected by this. However, we do know that 11 women were victims of domestic violence in 2023 (source: 2023 annual report of „Frauen helfen Frauen e.V.“) - as reported in the city council 02/2025 in response to our enquiry.
Every single offence - no matter in which segment - is one too many.
So let's keep our eyes open in our own environment and try to find out whether, where and how our help is needed - even in the case of subtle discrimination in everyday life.
