The Kaarst CDU's new members' evening in the cosy "Kaarster Schnittchen" café was a complete success. Around 30 interested people and new party members came together to find out more about local political work in Kaarst and to network with each other.
After a warm welcome, our membership representative Klaus Gerdes led through the evening. In his introduction, he vividly explained how local politics works, what opportunities the CDU offers to shape local politics and how new members can get involved. The main focus was on the personal motivations of those present: Why do people decide to become actively involved in politics today? What motivates people not just to watch, but to take on responsibility themselves?
The variety of responses was impressive: from the desire to make one's own neighbourhood more liveable to concerns about future issues such as digitalisation, education or security - the evening showed how colourful and lively the CDU Kaarst has become thanks to its members.
We are particularly proud of Stefan Hügen, who gained the most new members for the CDU in the district in 2024. His enthusiasm for local politics is contagious - and his commitment to building membership is making a significant contribution to the growth of our party.
Our Chairman and mayoral candidate Christian Horn-Heinemann also found clear words in favour of the positive development:
"It's great to see people deciding not just to passively comment on politics, but to actively help shape it. This demonstrates the strength of the local CDU - with over 70 new members in Kaarst alone in 2024. We are the local citizens' party and have our finger on the pulse of the city through our members!"
The evening made it clear that the CDU Kaarst is not a party of functionaries or aloofness, but lives from the people who live and work here and want to make their town better. Our party continues to grow with fresh ideas, personal commitment and the joy of shaping things - and thus becomes even stronger for the challenges of the future.
Thanks to everyone who took part - and to all those who would like to get involved in the future!
