Federal politics in Kaarst: Inspiring New Year's reception of the CDU with Secretary General Dr Carsten Linnemann

Kaarst, 10.01.2025 - Around 400 guests accepted the invitation of the CDU Kaarst to the traditional New Year's reception on 9 January 2025 at the Mercure Hotel. The evening was marked by the presence of high-ranking political guests from Berlin, including Dr Carsten Linnemann, Secretary General of the CDU Germany, and Ansgar Heveling, Member of the Bundestag for the Rhine district of Neuss.

In his rousing speech, Christian Horn-Heinemann, mayoral candidate of the CDU Kaarst, emphasised the importance of the year 2025 in setting the course for the future. "Politics is not just the struggle for power, but the shaping of responsibility," emphasised Horn-Heinemann. He appealed to the guests to tackle the challenges at all political levels with determination in order to further develop Kaarst, the region and Germany.

A key topic of the evening was the policy change initiated by guest of honour Dr Carsten Linnemann in his speech, which is the party's most important goal for both the upcoming federal elections and the local elections. The Secretary General emphasised how important clear messages and substantial content are for gaining the trust of citizens. "We stand for the economy, security, stability and a better future - our aim is to convince with solutions instead of disputes and with clarity instead of chaos," said Linnemann. He made it clear that the CDU was in a position to win back lost trust and put the country back on the road to success. "Personal responsibility, that is the CDU word" - said Linnemann - "whenever we have spoken in favour of personal responsibility, there has always been growth. I always mention the five Ws: economic miracle, economic growth, reunification, world champion in exports and world champion in football."

Ansgar Heveling, a member of the German Bundestag for many years and the voice of Rhein-Kreis-Neuss in Berlin, made it unmistakably clear in response to a guest's question that the debt brake for Germany is not being discussed in the CDU. Instead, he pointed out that there is sufficient tax revenue available, but that it must be used correctly. "If money is available in politics, it will be spent; that's why we, as those responsible in government, must make a massive effort to achieve the best for the country with the resources available.

The audience, which had travelled to the event despite the wintry weather, listened attentively and many of the passages by speakers Christian Horn-Heinemann and Dr Carsten Linnemann were met with applause. The subsequent Q&A session demonstrated the political interest of Kaarst's citizens and ensured a lively exchange in a relaxed atmosphere. Numerous guests were inspired by the speeches and the visionary orientation of the CDU.
The New Year's reception was framed by musical contributions from the artists Anikin Valentin (vocals) and Natalia Vetrova (piano). The artists provided a festive setting for the event with their songs from famous operas.

The reception was followed by lively debate and discussion in the foyer of the Hotel Mercure. After this reception, many of the guests are looking to the future with confidence.
"This New Year's reception was a complete success and a powerful start to a year that will be significant for all of us," Horn-Heinemann summarised. "Together with the people of Kaarst, we will move our city and our country forward."
