The Kaarst CDU parliamentary group was once again active in the Committee for Mobility, Environment, Climate Protection and Agriculture (MUKL) and is committed to improving the quality of life in Kaarst with concrete initiatives. The focus of the committee meeting included a new bus connection between Holzbüttgen and Büttgen, noise protection measures on the A52 motorway and traffic-calming measures in Vorst and Holzbüttgen Ost.
New bus route planned between Holzbüttgen and Büttgen
A key topic was the planning of a new bus route in Kaarst, which would better connect Holzbüttgen and Büttgen. On the initiative of the Seniors' Council and following a presentation by a transport expert, the new connection was discussed in detail by the committee.
The Kaarst CDU supports the prompt introduction of this line, which is intended to provide better public transport connections to the industrial estate at Kaarster Kreuz, the new data centre, IKEA Kaarst and the "IKEA/Holzbüttgen" and "Büttgen" S-Bahn stops. This bus connection in Kaarst could be realised as early as 2027 if planning proceeds quickly.
CDU calls for noise protection on the A52 motorway between Kaarster Kreuz and Kaarster See
The CDU parliamentary group continues to campaign for effective noise protection on the A52 motorway in Kaarst. Specifically, this concerns the section of the motorway between the Kaarst junction and Lake Kaarst, which is a major source of noise for many local residents. At the meeting, the CDU once again called for a noise barrier and suggested an in-depth examination by the responsible authorities. The aim is to work with the relevant authorities to develop solutions for improved protection of the residential areas.
Traffic in Kaarst-Vorst: CDU requests relief at St.-Eustachius-Platz
In the Kaarst-Vorst district, the CDU is campaigning for greater road safety. At the request of the parliamentary group, the traffic routing at St.-Eustachius-Platz is to be reviewed. The aim is to develop a concept for traffic calming in Vorst that both increases safety and improves the quality of life.
Holzbüttgen Ost: CDU responds to residents' comments on traffic congestion
There are also challenges in the area of traffic management in Holzbüttgen Ost. According to the latest traffic counts, the Siemensstraße/Bruchweg junction is becoming increasingly congested with through traffic. The CDU had therefore requested a review of the so-called "straight exit".
The specialist planner commissioned confirmed that the traffic load has increased noticeably. Reorganisation of the junction area would be technically feasible and, according to initial estimates, would cost around 120,000 euros. However, supra-regional approval authorities reject changes to the traffic routing - partly due to fears of tailbacks at the Gümpgesbrücke bridge.
As a possible alternative, Bruchweg in Kaarst is now to be redesigned to make it less attractive for through traffic. This measure is expected to be implemented at the latest once the electrification of the Kaarst regional railway in the IKEA/Holzbüttgen area has been completed.
CDU Kaarst: Reliable partner for sustainable transport policy
The CDU Kaarst is continuously committed to pragmatic and sustainable solutions in the areas of mobility, noise protection, transport planning and environmental protection. The aim is to promote sustainable development in all neighbourhoods and to further improve the quality of life in Kaarst. The Kaarst City Council is to decide on the resolutions and recommendations on 30 October.
