CDU Kaarst: Secure mobility, increase safety, maintain quality of life
Climate protection, heat protection and the noticeable changes in everyday life are not abstract paper topics for the CDU Kaarst. They affect the quality of life of citizens in a very concrete way. At the meeting of the Committee for Mobility, Environment, Climate and Agriculture (MUKL) on 3 February 2026, it became clear that we need to act responsibly and with a sense of proportion.
The administration presented current hazard zones as well as realistic protection and adaptation options. Cooperation with neighbouring municipalities is also important in order to achieve coordinated and effective solutions across city boundaries. The CDU expressly supports this concept-based approach with a direct impact for local people.
Concrete mobility - solutions instead of symbolic policy
Vorst marketplace
The traffic situation at the market square in Vorst is unsatisfactory and urgently needs to be improved. It is clear to the CDU that the information and concerns of the citizens must not go unheard.
Our approach is clear: first hold talks with residents and business owners and implement practicable, short-term solutions. If this is not enough, concrete technical measures must be prepared and politically decided. Safety and order in the town centre have their value - even if solutions cost money.
North Canal Bridge
The pedestrian bridge over the North Canal is an important link in the local recreation area. The CDU is in favour of consistently exploiting all possible short-term maintenance and repair measures. The aim is to avoid a cost-intensive new construction in the order of several hundred thousand euros. For us, it is clear: maintenance before new construction - repair and secure wherever it is responsible.
Bruchweg - 30 km/h with a sense of proportion
The desire for a 30 km/h speed limit on Bruchweg is understandable. At the same time, construction and refurbishment measures that have already been decided are due to be carried out there first. The CDU has therefore made it clear: first implement these measures, then plan 30 km/h zones sensibly and permanently as part of a change in traffic routing. Sustainable transport policy needs a clear sequence - no quick fixes.
Public transport - mobility must remain reliable
The current restrictions on local public transport due to bridge construction work in the direction of Düsseldorf are unacceptable in terms of their extent and duration. On the initiative of the CDU, the administration was instructed to endeavour to ensure that the mobility of the citizens of Kaarst is not further restricted.
CDU Kaarst: Taking responsibility instead of handing out promises
The CDU Kaarst stands for objective consideration, honest action and solutions with a sense of proportion. Our aim is to combine mobility, safety and quality of life - in the direct interests of our citizens.
