On 7 March, we were active with the CDA at the Kaarster weekly market to celebrate our achievements with flowers and to encourage all women to stand up for themselves with our self-designed power cards. Thank you for the time for the lively exchange and the motivational moments for us to continue running this marathon, because equality means more than formal equal rights: In everyday life, women largely earn less than men in similar jobs, are less likely to be managers and have to defend themselves against clichés or prejudices. Unpaid care work and family management are often taken on in addition.
This is exactly where International Women's Day comes in: Drawing attention to inequalities and showing what women achieve socially, culturally and economically. It is a reminder of how hard rights and freedoms have been fought for and that it is important to defend them again and again and to support each other in doing so.
