On 20 November 2024 evening, the CDU in the Rhine district of Neuss welcomed numerous guests to its "Leitplanken" event at "Kohlmann's" in the Bürgergesellschaft Neuss. The focus was on the question of how ethical and moral principles can shape political work.
An inspiring lecture by Prof Dr Gregor Thüsing
A particular highlight of the evening was the lecture by Prof. Dr Gregor Thüsing LL.M. (Harvard), Director of the Institute for Labour Law and Social Security Law at the University of Bonn. Under the title "Not everything that is permitted is honourable - On the sometimes difficult relationship between ethics and law", Prof. Dr Thüsing impressively demonstrated how important the balance between legal permissibility and ethical responsibility is.
Key points from the presentation:
- The distinction between legal permissibility and ethical responsibility.
- Why not everything that is permitted is automatically honourable.
- The importance of guard rails for political action.
Discussion, dialogue and values: an evening of responsibility
The evening was hosted by Ansgar Heveling MdB, CDU district chairman, and Sven Ladeck, parliamentary group chairman of the CDU district parliamentary group. The representatives of the CDU Kaarst were also particularly active, including the CDA District Chairwoman Angelika Zelleröhr and the Deputy District Party Chairman Lars Christoph.
The event not only offered profound impulses, but also the opportunity for a lively exchange over dinner.
The CDU in the Rhine district of Neuss would like to thank all participants for this successful evening.
