CDU launches second round of citizens' dialogues in 2024

CDU on site: Holzbüttgen in transition - Successful public discussion in the Bischofshof

With a clear focus on the challenges and opportunities of its local neighbourhood, the CDU Kaarst continued its citizens' talks at the Bischofshof in Holzbüttgen. Around 50 interested citizens took the opportunity to find out about current developments and local political projects and actively engage in dialogue with councillors Burghard Asche and Lars Witte as well as CDU mayoral candidate Christian Horn-Heinemann.

Holzbüttgen in generational change: opportunities and challenges

The event clearly showed that Holzbüttgen is undergoing dynamic change, according to CDU mayoral candidate Christian Horn-Heinemann. The generational change is visible in the remodelling of houses, the increasing demand for KITA places and the continuous expansion of open all-day facilities and schools, Horn-Heinemann continued. The CDU emphasises that the planning and securing of educational and childcare facilities in the district is already well advanced, according to Lars Witte.
The structural development of Holzbüttgen was also a key topic. Closing gaps between buildings, demolition and new construction are contributing to an increasingly harmonious district image, emphasises Burghard Asche. Particularly pleasing: the tiny house project on Blütenfeld is about to be realised. The contract with an investor is ready to be signed and the project should take shape in spring 2025.

New impetus through building areas and local supply

Work in the Commerhof construction area is making visible progress. The completion of the KITA was emphasised, but the desire for a local supplier with a supermarket was also called for. In the future, a bakery with a café area and outdoor space should offer an attractive place to go in the east of Holzbüttg and invite people to linger.

Focus on transport and infrastructure

Holzbüttgen's transport issues also attracted a great deal of attention:
The respective situations on Bruchweg and the school route along Bismarckstraße were discussed critically. The electrification of the Regiobahn railway, which will take around two years to complete, was discussed. The rail replacement service, which is currently travelling through narrow, partially parked streets, remains a challenge. Despite the difficulties, these topics were discussed objectively and in a solution-orientated manner.

Positive response to the CDU information platforms

The CDU information platform, which has been providing the latest news and relevant information via its website, Facebook page and newsletter for a year, was particularly praised. Under the title CDU vor Ort, the councillors regularly keep the people of Holzbüttg up to date and focus on the concerns of the citizens. "We continue to focus on personal dialogue with citizens, because only together can we move Holzbüttgen and our town of Kaarst forward," explained Burghard Asche.

A neighbourhood full of life and commitment

At the end, everyone agreed that Holzbüttgen is a lively neighbourhood with committed citizens. "We enjoy living here and look forward to further contact and dialogue," emphasised Christian Horn-Heinemann."
