Global crises, local responsibility

Whether it's Putin's war of aggression, economic uncertainties or growing geopolitical tensions - current developments call for structural and quick decisions. According to Heveling, Europe's defence policy in particular needs to be rethought, also in close cooperation with partners such as France.

500 billion package: What does it mean for Kaarst?

A central topic is the new Investment programme of 500 billion euros over twelve years. This is intended to enable future-oriented projects in particular. But how much of it actually reaches Kaarst and the Rhine district of Neuss?

  • Part of the programme is reserved for federal states and municipalities.
  • Funding is to be provided exclusively for sustainable projects.
  • Legal regulations for implementation are still pending.
  • Local authorities must utilise the funds in a targeted and efficient manner.

Structural reforms remain necessary

Heveling emphasises: "Money alone is not enough - we finally need structural changes." The Union sees it as a key task to simplify planning and approval procedures and speed up administrative processes. This is the only way for an investment programme to have a real impact.

Coalition negotiations in the background

While the new government is being prepared, intensive coalition negotiations are underway between the CDU/CSU, SPD and Alliance 90/The Greens. The focus is on topics such as migration, security, digitalisation and education. The resulting laws will largely determine how the funds can be used on the ground.

Transparency and dialogue on site

Christian Horn-Heinemann emphasises how important it is to pass on decisions from Berlin to citizens in an understandable and open manner. Only through dialogue, clear communication and critical monitoring can trust in political processes be maintained.

"Decisions must be explained - only then can they be accepted," Horn-Heinemann concludes.
