Kaarst mobilises:

Concrete steps for a sustainable transport transition

Together with the CDU and Bündnis 90/Die Grünen parliamentary groups, the city of Kaarst is sending out a strong signal in favour of greater mobility, safety and sustainability. With a series of concrete measures, politicians are driving forward the implementation of the urban mobility concept in a targeted manner. What does this mean for citizens? An overview:

Safe routes to school: traffic lights are being optimised

The safety of children and young people on their way to school is a particular priority. The on-demand traffic lights on Jahnstraße - an important school route - are to switch to green more quickly in future in order to reduce waiting times and make crossing safer. "Children and parents need reliable and safe crossings," emphasises Johannes Küppers, mobility spokesperson for the CDU parliamentary group.

Better cycle paths for everyday life

Cyclists will also benefit: the existing cycle and footpath along the K34 between Büttgen and Driesch is to be refurbished. Road safety is also to be improved at the entrance to Driesch. Schoolchildren in particular use this route on a daily basis - making an intact and safe infrastructure all the more important.

More speed required for state projects

The parliamentary groups are also increasing the pressure on Straßen.NRW. The CDU and Greens want to find out the current status of important state projects, including the renovation of the cycle paths on the L390 and L154 and the optimisation of the traffic light circuits at Kaarst railway station. "Many of these measures are long overdue," criticises CDU party leader and mayoral candidate Christian Horn-Heinemann. "We are calling for binding timetables and closer cooperation with the city."

Kaarst is moving forward - networked and planned

All planned measures are in line with the objectives of the urban mobility concept. They are interlinked and thus create the basis for a modern, safe and sustainable mobility infrastructure in Kaarst - for the benefit of all road users.

Conclusion: The traffic turnaround in Kaarst is not happening by chance, but with a plan and commitment. This will benefit not only schoolchildren, but everyone who wants to travel safely and comfortably in Kaarst.
