At the meeting of the Building and Planning Committee on 9 October 2014, we were able to achieve an important goal: At the request of the CDU, the size of the development at Hoverkamp, which is intended to provide accommodation for refugees and people without shelter, was reduced by a third. Originally, three buildings for up to 80 people were planned - now there will be two buildings for around 55 people. The location of the buildings is also to be reconsidered and optimised in consultation with the city council.
The CDU is thus fulfilling its social responsibility both for the people who will live there in the future and for the current residents. We are ensuring that appropriate accommodation for refugees and homeless people is possible without losing sight of the interests of local residents.
We are pleased that the FDP has supported our motion, as the SPD and Bündnis 90/Die Grünen would have agreed to the maximum utilisation in terms of buildings and number of people.
