Building and planning committee approves Vorst neighbourhood development concept

CDU pushes through significant additions and improvements in the interests of citizens.

On 21.08.24, the Building and Planning Committee approved the Final version of the Vorst neighbourhood development concept (OEK) adopted as a future guideline for the development of the town.

The OEK Vorst is already in the CDU's 2020 election programme and has now been finalised following extensive public participation in the form of district walks, a citizens' forum and a citizens' meeting organised by the CDU.

The CDU was important right from the start to achieve a stronger emphasis on a parallel adaptation of the infrastructure (transport, school/daycare centre), the social aspects of village coexistence (housing for older citizens, social meeting places) and only moderate building development compared to the original proposals of the city administration. This was supported not least by numerous responses from residents to the Vorst CDU councillors Hans-Gerd Schievink and Dr Klaus Gerdes.

Specifically, we have opted for the Examination of a structural development on Vorster Straße plus Kaninchenskamp (here with a focus on the possibilities for senior-friendly housing), the parallel expansion of daycare and school capacities through the construction of a new daycare centre and the conversion of Vorst primary school, measures for the further development of the town centre at Eustachiusplatz and Antoniusplatz in front of the church and finally the implementation of traffic structuring measures from the mobility concept.

We will provide the citizens of Vorst with an overview of the resolutions and further planning in a meeting to be scheduled in detail. Citizens' meeting in November give.

We believe that forward-looking planning with the involvement of local residents BEFORE the start of construction can be a blueprint for urban development in Kaarst.
